The Roseless Rose Garden

Being inspired by Clay Gaspard, I decided to spend some time trying to figure out my digital camera.

You might make me a believer in Color, Jason… I normally am a fan of B\W, studying the Zone system of Ansel Adams in College. I used to work in large format but booze and drugs cost me all of that… I just drool now-a-days…

I did notice that you enjoyed the Great black and white films of the past, like Casablanca and Citizen Kane. I am going out on the limb and say that you like the acting (me too!) but the camera work in both those films is a lost art.

Anyway I tend to ramble so I will quit while I am losing…

Keep up the Great work!
Steve

Thanks for the kind words. I do enjoy black and white, and this is actually my first true attempt with color.

Citizen Kane is by far my favorite film of all time. Its truely a feast for the eyes.

Casablanca is the best script ever written. It also does what I think any sucesssful love story must do; makes you fall in love with the charactors.

Again, thanks alot.

The top picture represents, to me, life struggles. That those struggles must face inward, not externally, down into ourselves, continually inward. We must understand that, life flows into and onto us. (Life is represented as drops of water in the picture.)

That by ourselves, our center core is black. It is naturally man. We are lost.

If we replace natural man with Christ centered man.. then darkness becomes light and we can find our way…

In short, I love that picture. May I use it on my blog..

Citizen Kane is without peer. Casablanca is…..well, love…
I also enjoy “The African Queen” strong story, well directed..

I have, also, used two movies, while in management\personnel training to understand the body language and attitudes of those I work and play around.. the first:

“Twelve angry men”

The second:

“Twelve O’clock High”

The goal of the class.. be able to detect when the next juror will change his vote by discerning his body attitudes (Twelve angry men)
Detect the number of personalities changes G. Peck goes thru in the movie “Twelve O’clock High”
